Record of Intent

Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026 · Version: 1.0

This policy describes what you can and cannot do when using the Record of Intent website at recordofintent.co.uk and the Record of Intent product when it launches.

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to anyone using the site or the product, whether as a casual visitor, a waitlist signup, a contact-form sender, a tier-interest signup, or, after the product launches, a paying customer or invited collaborator.

2. General prohibited activities

You must not:

  • Use the site or the product for any illegal activity.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users via any feature we provide (including the contact form).
  • Spam the waitlist or any tier-interest list (for example by submitting many addresses or signing up addresses that do not belong to you).
  • Impersonate any person, organisation, or affiliation.
  • Upload, transmit, or link to malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Conduct security testing of the site or product without our prior written permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, copy, or attempt to derive the source code of the service except as expressly permitted by law.
  • Use automated tools or scripts to bulk-submit any of our forms.
  • Use the site or the product to defame anyone.
  • Use the site or the product in a way that infringes anyone else's intellectual property rights.
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security measure or rate limit.

3. Record-integrity prohibited activities (specific to Record of Intent)

Because Record of Intent exists to make agreements tamper-evident, the following are specifically forbidden:

  • Misrepresenting agreements. Do not submit records that intentionally misrepresent agreements, approvals, or counterparties.
  • Defamation or harassment via record content. Do not use records to defame, harass, or threaten any third party named in the record content.
  • Circumventing record-integrity mechanisms. Do not reverse-engineer or attempt to circumvent the record-hashing, the independent timestamping, or the verification mechanisms in order to generate records or verifications outside the platform, or to make a forged record appear to verify successfully.

4. What happens if you breach this policy

If we believe you have breached this policy, we may at our discretion:

  • Suspend or terminate your access to the site or product, without notice if the breach is serious.
  • Report the breach to law enforcement or to any regulator with relevant jurisdiction.
  • Take civil action to recover any loss caused by the breach.
  • Share information about the breach with any third party affected, including a person named in a record you created.

5. Reporting a violation

If you become aware of a possible breach of this policy, please write to [email protected]. We will investigate and respond as appropriate. You can also use our contact form at /contact.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and product evolve. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for at least 30 days before they take effect.

7. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
